About the Artist

Hi, my name is Marie. I am a ceramicist residing in Palm Springs, CA. Originally from Okemos,  Michigan, I studied Studio Art in college which is where I discovered my passion for working with clay.

Clay is a wonderful medium to work with. It’s soft and malleable elements make it possible to bring images and visions to life that previously only lived in my imagination.

The first piece I hand built was a tall rectangular vase. It was functional and enjoyable to build, but the vase felt bare. Something was missing. I began sculpting petals, then leaves and a stem, and attached them to the top of the vessel winding down the side of the vase. Looking at the completed piece, it was clear why I felt fulfilled and what came naturally to me; sculpting elements from nature.

That tall floral vase is still one of my favorite pieces. Maybe because it’s where I first started and where my passion first bloomed. I’ve been sculpting flowers and developing new vessels to intertwine them with ever since.

Each piece I make is hand built and is one of a kind. My specialties are floral tiles, floral etched vessels, and candle holders. Each piece has it’s own story, and each has it’s own unique floral and botanical varieties.

If you have a vision for a floral or botanical ceramic piece, or if you have a favorite flower you’d like to see come to life, I’d love to hear about it!
